coercively assigned male at birth

a term used by some intersex people to describe being assigned male at birth, with the added implication that this happened without their consent to erase their intersex status and/or identity, such as through “corrective surgery“.

Usage Notes Although this is a term that has found traction in the intersex community, it should be noted that a majority of intersex people identify as cisgender. The term has been co-opted by some endosex trans/nonbinary people, and this is considered problematic.
