Pronounced miks, mucks, or em-ex, Mx. is an alternative title to Mr, Miss, Ms or Mrs that is gender neutral – with the x being a ‘wildcard’; it was proposed in the late 1970s and has since become accepted by the United Kingdom government and many businesses in the sovereign state.

Sometimes, Mx. is pronounced in an extended form as mixter.

Library.LGBT is an online resource surrounding Queer/LGBTQIA+ information, topics, health, history, and culture, and is an initiative of Albany Pride. Library.LGBT hopes to offer information that is valuable to both Queer and non-Queer people alike, to better understand our community, the identities within them, and our long and varied history.
